Sheer softness with adjustable vanes
A window shading combines two sheer fabric layers with soft fabric vanes suspended between them. Like a blind, the vanes tilt: open them and daylight streams through the sheer with a soft glow while you can still see outside; close them and the room gets privacy. Raise the shading and it rolls up neatly out of sight.
As a Hunter Douglas authorized dealer, we carry Silhouette® window shadings, one of the best-known products of this kind. Silhouette shadings come in a range of fabrics, colors and vane sizes, and they can be motorized with PowerView®.
Shadings are a favorite for living rooms and great rooms where you want the light and the view most of the day, with privacy available at the touch of a wand or a button.
- Soft vanes between sheer layers
- Fabric and vane size choices
- PowerView® motorization available

Light control, privacy and protection
What window shadings do for a room.
Diffused daylight
Sheer layers soften harsh sun into an even glow.
Privacy with a view
Tilt the vanes partly closed for privacy while still seeing out.
UV protection
Fabric layers help protect furnishings from fading.
Motorized option
PowerView® lets you control shadings by remote, app or schedule.
Manual or motorized, with gentle care
Window shadings can be operated manually, with a control that raises the shading and tilts the vanes, or motorized with Hunter Douglas PowerView®. Motorization is especially useful on tall or wide windows and lets you set schedules that open shadings in the morning and close them at night. We install and program motorized shadings for you.
Because shadings are made of delicate fabrics, care is gentle: dust lightly with a feather duster or a vacuum on low with a brush attachment, and follow the Hunter Douglas care instructions for spot cleaning.
