Practical coverage for wide openings
Vertical blinds are made of individual vanes that hang from a headrail. The vanes rotate to adjust light and privacy, and the whole blind draws to one side or splits in the middle to open the door or window. Because the vanes hang vertically, they handle wide spans, like sliding patio doors and door walls, better than most horizontal treatments.
Today’s custom vertical blinds are a long way from the ones many of us remember. Vanes come in vinyl, fabric and textured materials in a wide range of colors, and many styles include a matching valance to hide the headrail.
Vertical blinds are durable, affordable and easy to keep clean, which makes them a sensible choice for busy family rooms and doors that open to the deck all summer.
- Vinyl, fabric and textured vanes
- Stack to one side or split center
- Matching valances

Simple operation and easy maintenance
Vertical blinds are usually operated with a wand that draws and rotates the vanes, or with a cord and chain. Wand control keeps cords away from a busy door and from children and pets. We’ll help you choose the stack direction that works with how you use the door.
To clean vertical blinds, dust the vanes with a duster or vacuum brush. Vinyl vanes can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap; fabric vanes should be dusted and spot cleaned. If a vane ever breaks, individual vanes can usually be replaced rather than the whole blind.
- Wand or cord and chain control
- Wipe vinyl vanes clean
- Individual vanes can be replaced
